TROMATIZED: MEET LLOYD KAUFMAN TO PREMIERE ONLINE MARCH 23

March 20, 2012, New York, NY - Greetings from Tromaville! Fabien Martorell's 2009 documentary Tromatized: Meet Lloyd Kaufman, a portrait of Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma and creator of The Toxic Avenger, will have its online premiere this week at Prescreen.com.

Starring Stan Lee, Roger Corman, James Gunn, Eli Roth, Trey Parker, Joe Lynch, Count Smokula and many others, Tromatized: Meet Lloyd Kaufman is a biography of legendary and eccentric director/writer/producer Kaufman and his film company Troma Entertainment, which has specialized in independent movies for over 35 years. The film was awarded Best Biographical Documentary at New York International Independent Film & Video Festival by Festival President Abel Ferrara. Director Fabien Martorell is currently producing the feature film Snuff, based on the book by Chuck Palahniuk (best-selling author of Fight Club).

Established in 1974 by Yale friends Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, Troma Entertainment is one of the longest-running independent movie studios in United States history, and one of the best-known names in the industry. World famous for movie classics like Kaufman's The Toxic Avenger, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, Class of Nuke'em High, Mother's Day and Tromeo and Juliet, Troma's seminal films are now being remade as big budget mainstream productions by the likes of Brett Ratner, Richard Saperstein, Akiva Goldsman, and Steven Pink. Among today's stars whose early work can be found in Troma's 800+ film library are Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Jenna Fischer, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman, Kevin Costner, Fergie, Vincent D'Onofrio and Samuel L. Jackson. Visit Troma at www.troma.com, www.lloydkaufman.com, www.twitter.com/lloydkaufman, and www.tromapast.tumblr.com.

HELL'S HIGHWAY (2001)

I have watched trailers for this thing for years and finally decided to watch it. At first it just seems so formulaic, but I kept watching. Phoebe Dollar can keep your attention even if she is a little odd looking. Ron Jeremy's cameo was pretty funny, even for Ron, but I just knew where it was going.

Or so I thought.

This flick has the weirdest turn around ending I have seen in a long time.

I initially wanted to discuss it, but even an 11 year old flick deserves a spoiler free mention.

Here's the trailer;

We can discuss it in the comments if you want.

Goodbye...

It's not like you're really gone because you left us so many movies to enjoy, but the world is a little grayer with your passing.

FATHER'S DAY (2011)

FATHER’S DAY
Directed by Astron-6
DVD release by TROMA

I had heard of Father’s Day in passing, not a lot of details, but I knew that Troma was behind the release so, I was sold. They asked if anyone wanted to review the film so, I threw my hat in the ring.
A few days later a package arrived. The front was emblazoned with the Troma seal of approval and the back had an epic poster for the film.
I still had no idea what it was about.
The DVD I popped in the player gave me no warning to the bizarreness that was waiting for me. It seems there is this guy named Chris Fuchman (Mackenzie Murdock)who likes to kill and rape dads. The scenes of cannibalism are extremely gruesome. The church sends young Father John Sullivan (Matthew Kennedy) to find Ahab (Adam Brooks), he fought the beast before and it has returned. Ahab’s sister, Chelsea (Amy Groening) is also on the trail of the beast. When she’s not working as a stripper. Throw in a gay, prostitute named Twink (Conor Sweeney) and they all have a vendetta against this monster.
FATHER’S DAY doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it comes across as a pitch perfect grindhouse flick. Between the ultra gore and enough male and female nudity to fill a porn flick, FATHER”S DAY doesn’t pull a lot of punches. There is a scene with a needle, a razor and a penis that will make you squirm if you can bear to watch it all.
I really like the way that the film exists on the late show complete with commercials and other cool stuff. I’m interested to see how far they take this on the official DVD release.
Astron-6 is a collective of people and they have proved that this might be the best ten grand that Troma has ever invested.
